A Food Fun Travel Guest Post

Rice is an indispensable staple in any kitchen. It is such an easy to cook and highly versatile ingredient anyone can have a nutritious and tasty meal in quite a short time. It might sound too good to be true, but you can actually prepare a delicious dinner with proteins in just five minutes!

On the other hand, rice can be processed with the hull on before milling, known as raw or parboiled, which is then blanched, steamed, rinsed, and dried to turn into instant rice.

Really, minute rice has been stopped just before being fully cooked, so that you can finish or complete the final few minutes of the cooking process. There are many delicious rice dishes and a great option is fried rice with egg. Below are three recipes to prepare an incredible 5-minute meal:

Quick and tasty fried rice

This flavor filled dish can be served as a lunch or dinner

Ingredients (one large serving)

  • A teaspoon of butter or olive oil.
  • 2 eggs (1 yolk removed).
  • ¼ of a diced white onion.
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced).
  • 1½ teaspoon of tamari.
  • ½ cup of cooked white or brown rice.
  • 3 chopped leaves of kale, (zucchini, spinach, carrot or red pepper can be used as well).

Optional (but recommended)

  • Toasted sesame oil.
  • Sesame seeds.
  • Pinch of crushed red pepper.

Preparation

Coat a small frying pan with oil and put it over medium-high heat. Add chopped veggies to the hot pan, except the spinach or kale, as they cook faster than the others.

Cook vegetables until they start to soften. Put them aside and crack the egg into the pan, adding a little oil if needed. Once almost cooked, break the egg with a spatula.

Now add the rice, tamari and greens, pouring a little water to avoid sticking. Once you’ve mixed it all, put a lid on and cook until the greens start brightening. Sprinkle it with toasted sesame oil and a touch of red pepper and sesame seeds before serving.
